2025 Awards

This award recognises an outstanding initiative driving innovation in anti-money laundering (AML) led by an internal financial crime team. The project team will have demonstrated a proactive and cutting-edge approach to staying abreast of the fast-evolving landscape of AML regulations. Initiatives can vary in size and timescale and can include projects such as the implementation of a new technology to improve processes or the reactive work of an internal team to a specific investigation or change in regulation.

Judges will be looking for initiatives that have involved collaboration between multiple stakeholders, whether internal or external partners, and will give particular consideration to measures of success and improvement. The initiative will have delivered positive outcomes, processes must show scalability and adaptability to other parts of the business or the wider industry.

Eligibility

  • This award is open to all internal financial crime prevention teams working in a highly regulated business inside or outside of the financial services sector.
  • Entries must demonstrate evidence from the last 12-18 months, up to the awards entry deadline.
  • Entries that do not address the entry criteria in detail will not be considered.
  • We welcome entries from teams operating within Europe.

Spirit

  • Describe the ambition and goals of the initiative.
  • What is the business context within which the submission is set, were there internal or external drivers for the initiative?
  • Provide details of the business case and the problem/challenge that you were trying to solve.

Approach

  • How this initiative is an exemplary case study for the regional and international AML community?
  • Describe any key challenges faced in the project and how these were overcome.
  • Provide examples of how creative solutions were found to meet challenges and exceed goals.
  • Detail any examples that demonstrate how the team has embraced innovation to enhance the project, including new technologies.
  • Detail any relevant examples of needing to respond to regulatory requirements or new and emerging standards within the scope of the project.

Outcome

  • Please describe the outcomes and impact of the initiative. What were the measures of success?
  • To what extent did the initiative meet or exceed the initial ambition and goals?
  • What will be the longer-term impact of the project, are there further steps to build on the initial success? How will the success be sustained?
  • How did the initiative deliver value for the business, or optimise outcomes within resource and budget constraints?

Validation

  • Please share any testimonials from internal stakeholders that would further validate the entry. Please keep each testimonial to a max of 100 words.
  • Please detail any wider outcomes for the business, new standards that have been adopted, as well as any wider industry impact.
